Last Man Standing Stands Again

A while back the show was ditch amid much furore. Now it’s been announced that’s it’s coming back to screens.

The show has been around since 2011/2012, with all seasons currently available for purchase in the UK iTunes store (which I’m hoping to acquire as soon as my cash situtation improves to end my bad luck streak catching it).

Don’t miss it if you prefer watching TV shows made for people with a brain.

The return of Roseanne

You’ve probably already seen it in the media, but the show recently returned to our screens.

I used to watch it when I was younger, and now it’s back after an almost 21-year break (last episode apparently aired in May 1997).

I’m just hoping that the new episodes + the back catalog of old series makes it onto the UK iTunes store so I actually get to watch more than just the preview clips I’ve had to make do with so far: With what’s listed in Amazon’s DVD section it’s hard to tell what’s Region2 and what’s a Region1 import, and putting them on iTunes alongside “Home Improvement”, “Seinfeld”, “Friends” + “Last Man Standing” would make it easier to watch.

But what I have seen does look kind of promising compared to what’s been on our screens since it was last on the air all those years ago

AlltheInterweb Food is now refreshed

Back in March 2014 I created a Food & Drink messageboard forum section on AlltheInterweb.

Having left it a bit untouched the last couple of years, on Sunday (21st January 2018) I set about re-building it to make it look a bit more appealing than the previous design.

There’s still a bit more to do, but AlltheInterweb Food is hopefully going to start looking and getting better for people looking for or wanting to share their recipes on the forum.

There’s even a new Search Facility on the site.

AlltheInterweb Goes Virtual…..

Since the Summer of 2017 (about end of June, I think) the site has started to make it’s presence felt on the old online virtual world known as “Second Life” in the form of a patch of land and some store rentals to experiment with affiliate sales on there.

I even created a Subsite on AlltheInterweb to support it, which you can find by CLICKING HERE.

The experiment with the patch of land could be going better, as neighbouring land owners who came onto the patches of land next to mine have totally f***ed-up the view from my patch that spurred me to buy the damn place.

The experiment with the store rentals is going a little bit better, but nowhere near enough to what I hoped yet.

If you’re into the game too, why not drop by “AlltheInterweb Virtual Product Stores” at Business ParkGloryland + Kuredhu?

Prem-I-Air 12-inch High Velocity Air Circulator

For a number of years after my Grandma popped her clogs, we had the use of her old Tefal Deskfan to keep us cool in our house during the warmer days.

Unfortunately last year that fan ceased to work too. Well, it still worked but the plastic used in it’s construction went off, got all brittle, had chunks fall off it, and the wire mesh fell off the front of it after the plastic no longer held on it via tension ‘cos a piece fell off.

I fixed it best I could with aluminium flashing tape, but then my Dad knocked it off again, and tried fixing it himself….. but as usual he lost patience with it, and smashed it up in a temper.

As the weather was starting to become uncomfortable again by the end of May, a search for a replacement was in order.

I opted for this Prem-i-Air High Velocity Air Circulator on the basis I already had one of their tower fans for a number of years, so that’s what I went for seeing as it was only £30.

It comes ready assembled in it’s own stand, and tilts on a click-wratchet system so it stays put and takes some effort to knock it out of position.

There’s a dial switch on the top-right of the fan that adjusts the speed: Off > Full Blast > Medium > Low

The rate it moves air given by the manufacturer is given in metric, but I worked out it translates to around 575cfm, and it’s supposed to blow air at around just slightly under the speed that would qualify as a Force3 on the Beaufort Scale.

The fan is fairly noisy, but no worse than an electric lawnmower or the average kitchen extractor hood.

Overall it’s a good buy, good value for money, well made, and works well at it’s intended job of keeping you cool.

I made an unboxing video, but as my computer recently went tits-up and I had to buy a replacement pc, I haven’t had chance to get it off the camera yet, let alone edit it + upload it to Youtube, I’ll add it here later I guess.

How to make money online by blogging

If you’re reading this, you may already know what a blog is. If not, then a blog can be used to write a personal diary or as a platform to write online articles similar to the kind of thing that’ve been appearing in Newspapers & Magazines for years.

Many people do this, and don’t earn s***, probably because they aren’t that fussed about earning from their blog, but in other cases they just don’t really know how to do it properly, or they just don’t put the effort in.

There are other people who do this, who claim to make $1000’s doing it, and even write books to boast about it and tell other people how to go about doing it. I’ve had a flick through many of these books recently, and they pretty much all say the same thing without being maybe as truly helpful as they could.

There are even people who have become millionaires from blogging, and it may be possible for you to do the same, but you’ll have a hell of alot of work ahead of you laying the foundation stones to be able to get there.

If you want to have a go at this yourself, you will need the following things:

1) An idea about what you want to write about, think of a topic that you’re actually interested in, know about enough to not look like a moron when you’re writing about it, and have the willpower to write about on a regular basis.

Most of these books about blogging suggest trying to find a specific niche on the topic to write about, but not one so weird there’d be a very limited people wanting to read it. For instance “How to make money blogging” is probably more likely to attract readers than “How to make money by giving elephants nipple piercings”.

2) Energy….. if you’re totally knackered you’re gonna have quite a struggle engaging your brain to assemble words to use in your blog posts in a way that makes sense, if any at all.

3) Time… let’s face it, writing takes a while to do…… but you can also write a crapload of blogs at once (providing you don’t over-burden yourself to the point you get bits of them mixed up), and set the blog website to release them to the world at a set time if needs be.

4) A blogging platform…. there are numerous options, with Free WordPressBlogger/Blogspot + WordPress hosted via paid webhosting among the most popular.

5) Advertising to make money from your blog posts by monetising them. The most popular choices are Google AdSense + Amazon Associates, which I’ve also found to be the most reliable for payouts.

6) SEO & PPC Advertising Skills, to bring people to your blog to click on the adverts that will earn you money.

SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimisation”, and is the dark art of tweaking your website to play nicely with the search engine robots when they come to visit your website to gather information to add your pages to the listings on the various Search Engines.

PPC stands for “Pay Per Click”, and is a form of advertising where the owner of the pages an advert is displayed on gets paid when someone clicks on it. Just as you need it to earn money on your own pages, you also need to run adverts through it to display adverts to your blog site on other people’s websites to bring people to your site in the hopes they will click on your adverts.

There are popular options including Google AdWords, Facebook Ads + Bing Ads. It can cost from as little as a tenner a month, through to well over $300/£300+ a month.

7) Social Media accounts to promote the blog and lure people in to read your content. All the usual suspects: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, etc.

8) Software, to make running the blog more painless & look more professional…….. you may want to consider graphics software, image editing software, video editing software + SEO Software for starters.

Also, don’t forget to share the crap out of this article using the buttons below if you found it useful.

This “Instagram” app is starting to annoy me…

The way the Instagram app is now is kind of annoying me. When I first put it on my newer phone (Nokia Windows 8.1 thingy), the stuff people I followed posted popped up on the front page as they posted it.

Now they seem to have changed it to show hi-lighted stuff that’s like “1 day ago” “1 Week ago”, “4 days ago”, etc….. it’d be faster to keep up with what they’re doing if they took a polaroid instant print and sent it to me via carrier pigeon.

Too much of a pain in the butt to go to individual profiles to keep up (Especially if like me you follow 85 profiles) + the linky thing on the profiles in the WindowsPhone version of the app is very small text placed very close to the “edit app” button, so is pretty hard to tap on accurately unless you’ve got fingers like Edward Scissorhands…….
